It can be and has been defined in several ways: contemporary music, avant-garde music, New Music (<i class="">Neue Musik</i>), Maximalist Music (my term since 1983, when, at age 21, I introduced it in a concert at MASP – São Paulo Art Museum – to define my own musical poetics), Music of Invention (term coined by the great poet Augusto de Campos)…</b></font></span></div><div style="text-align: justify; text-indent: 1cm;" class=""><span lang="EN-US" xml:lang="EN-US" style="color: rgb(237, 125, 49);" class=""><font face="ArialMT" class=""><b class="">All these terms make sense and try to situate a musical making that takes distance from the music of the market, from the “popularesque” music (Béla Bartók’s term) or popular: a musical making that anchors its poetics in an <i class="">intertextuality</i>, as implicit as it may be, that retraces its achievements in a long transgressive course – of a <i class="">transgress</i>, not exactly of a “progress” – of the musical language throughout centuries and finds its roots in the advent of <i class="">writing</i> or musical notation. But writing was already born from a longing for <i class="">scripture</i>, and to this, yes, we direct our focus. The <i class="">musical</i> <i class="">scripture</i> is, therefore, what motivated the birth of musical notation so that, making use of it, it could develop itself. Ele pode ser e foi definido de diversas maneiras: música contemporânea, música de vanguarda, Música Nova (<i class="">Neue Musik</i>), Música Maximalista (meu termo desde 1983, quando, aos 21 anos, o introduzi em um concerto no MASP – Museu de Arte de São Paulo – para definir minha própria poética musical), Música de Invenção (termo cunhado pelo grande poeta Augusto de Campos)...</font></span></div><div style="text-indent: 1cm;" class=""><span lang="PT-BR" xml:lang="PT-BR" class=""><font face="ArialMT" class="">Todos esses termos fazem sentido e procuram situar um fazer musical que toma distância da música de mercado, da música “popularesca” (termo de Béla Bartók) ou popular: um fazer musical que ancora sua poética numa <i class="">intertextualidade</i>, por mais implícita que esta seja, que rebate seus feitos num longo decurso transgressivo – de um <i class="">transgresso</i>, não propriamente de um “progresso” – da linguagem musical ao longo de séculos e encontra suas raízes no advento da <i class="">escrita</i> ou notação musical. Mas a <i class="">escrita</i> nasceu já de um anseio de <i class="">escritura</i>, e a isso, sim, dirigimos nosso foco. A <i class="">escritura</i> <i class="">musical</i> é, pois, o que motivara o nascimento da <i class="">escrita</i> musical para que, dela se valendo, pudesse ela mesmo se desenvolver.
